Pamela Nomvete is a London-based actor. Born in Ethiopia to South African parents, she came to the UK for school in her teens and went on to graduate from The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Her career as an actress spans over thirty years, both in the UK and South Africa.
A veteran actor of stage and screen, Pamela's notable screen credits include Star Wars series 'Andor' (Disney+), 'Without Sin' (ITV), BAFTA nominated action-crime drama 'Gangs of London' (Sky Atlantic) 'Flesh and Blood' (ITV) and 'Noughts and Crosses' (BBC), based on the novels of the same name.
Pamela was seen reprising her role as Deborah in South Africa’s hugely popular prison drama 'Lockdown', for which she was twice nominated as Best Actress at the South African Film and Television Awards. Pamela also starred in the brilliant short 'Dolapo is fine' which was long-listed for a BAFTA and was awarded Best Actress at the African Oscars for her extraordinary performance in Nicholas Beveney’s Independent Feature 'Kingmakers'.
Additional television credits include 'Wild Bill', ITV's British comedy-drama starring Rob Lowe, the second series of 'In the Long Run', series 2 of BBC's 'Motherland' and Armando Iannucci's project 'Avenue 5' for HBO.
On stage, Pamela’s work includes Robert Icke’s 'The Doctor' (Almeida), 'The Convert' (Young Vic), Adam Brace's new play 'They Drink it in the Congo' (Almeida), 'Teddy Ferrara' (Donmar Warehouse), 'Belong' (Royal Court), 'Comedy of Errors' (National Theatre), 'Truth and Reconciliation' (Royal Court), 'Welcome to Thebes' (National Theatre) amd 'Twelfth Night' (RSC).
In 2023, Pamela was nominated for Best Actress in a supporting role Olivier award for her portrayal of Calpurnia in the West End performance of Aaron Sorkin's 'To Kill A Mockingbird' (Gielgud Theatre).
Her voice work includes Mama K in animated series 'Supa Team 4', Old Mother in 'Love, Death and Robots' (Netflix) and award-winning video game 'Baldur's Gate III'.
She most recently completed a run of Lyndsey Turner's critically acclaimed production of 'Coriolanus' at the National Theatre alongside David Oyelowo, whilst also finishing her run in American play 'Skeleton Crew' at the Donmar Warehouse.
Pamela can currently be seen playing one of the lead roles in TV thriller 'Nightsleeper' (BBC) opposite Joe Cole and Alexandra Roach, and is soon to be seen in upcoming feature 'Man in my Basement' opposite Willem Dafoe and Corey Hawkins.
