Billie JD Porter is back examining the ‘Secrets Of China’ in her new 3 part show which starts on 25th August at 9pm BBC Three on.
In this fascinating three parter she looks beyond the surface of the sometimes secretive and proud society to find out what it is really like to grow up in the world’s most populated country.
Respect for the state and elders is drilled into younger generations and Billie visits a special boot camp in the middle of China, where children have been sent to take a nine-month course in discipline for disobeying their parents.
She also finds out about the problems of addiction, with one third of the boys at the camp hooked on online gaming, and asks what the country’s obsession with gaming says about pressure and individual freedom.
