‘Matthew Macfadyen ‘ will star as Henry Wilcox in BBC One’s four-part drama ‘Howards End’. Which will air at 9pm on November 12th. Directed by ‘Hettie MacDonald’ ‘Howards End’ is based on the 1910 novel by ‘E.M. Forster’ which has been adapted by ‘Kenneth Lonergan’. Set in the Edwardian era, the TV series cover themes of idealism, class and social division in 20th century England. The drama explores the story of two sisters who are looking for meaning and love as they adapt to a new changing world.
The last major adaptation of ‘Howards End‘ was done 25 years ago as a Merchant Ivory-produced ‘feature film’ starring ‘Emma Thompson’, ‘Anthony Hopkins’ and ‘Vanessa Redgrave’. This take on the ‘Novel’ stars ‘Matthew Macfadyen’, ‘Hayley Atwell‘ and ‘Tracey Ullman’.
